Who Needs Content Marketing?

If you understand the benefits of content marketing, but aren’t sure if it applies to your business, then you’re in the right place!

The simple truth is that ANYONE who sells ANYTHING online or offline can enjoy the benefits of content marketing.

Content Marketing for eCommerce

If you operate an online store, then bringing customers to your website is essential for making those all-important sales.

You will likely already be utilising social media to drum up this interest—and that’s great. But, there’s so much more to be gained by bringing people to your website directly from Google.

Let’s say you have an online business selling gender-free clothing. If someone wants to buy an item of clothing that fits this description, then they’re very likely to go straight to Google and start searching.

They might use search terms such as:

  • ‘gender-free clothing’
  • ‘clothes for queer people’
  • ‘non-binary t shirt designs’
  • ‘unisex shirts’

You get the idea.

If you aren’t regularly creating content for the website of your gender-free clothing store that features these keywords and similar, then Google isn’t going to direct these searchers to your website.

So, how do we do this?

The first step is auditing your website to determine how SEO-friendly it already is. Don’t worry, that’s my job, not yours!

Sidenote: SEO-friendly means how successful your website already is when it comes to appealing to Google (and other search engines). SEO stands for search engine optimisation, and is essentially a collection of techniques for making your website rank better in the Google search results.

Next, we (again, me) do a deep dive into the data to come up with a comprehensive list of keywords that you should be targeting. Once we have this information, we can get to work creating a content strategy.

This content strategy will essentially be a plan for the content (written and otherwise) that we’ll be creating together moving forwards. This content will be published on your website blog at the agreed intervals and promoted as per the plan.

Content Marketing for Offline Businesses

If you don’t sell products or services online, but you do have a physical business out in the real world, then this doesn’t exclude you from using this kind of marketing.

Launching a website and developing a powerful content marketing plan can help you to enhance the visibility of your brand, and encourage customer or clients to seek you out offline.

How would this work?

This process is pretty much identical to the actions described above for online businesses. If you don’t already have a website, then this would naturally take longer, but there’s no reason not to expect results within three to six months.
